چکیده
Biomass is becoming one of the most popular renewable energy sources, especially from agricultural wastes. These wastes can be gasified and utilized in various industries. This experimental study investigated producer gas generation densified fuels such as corncobs, rice husks, wood chips, oil palm fronds a 50 kWth throatless downdraft gasifier. system produced combustible gases H2, CO, CH4, which were substitute for diesel fuel small engine power generation. The results showed that gasifier performs successfully seems to prefer pellets briquettes. Producer contains 18%–20% carbon monoxide, 1%–6% hydrogen, 0.9%–1.9% methane. Maximum gasification efficiencies 53%–71% achieved with biomass fronds, calorific value 2.94–3.85 MJ/Nm3. average consumption rate was between 6.72–14.43 kg/h, while yield 2–3 Nm3/kg. gravimetric concentration tar raw product found range 23–50 g/Nm3, pelletized appeared show slightly lower than briquette fuel. primarily composed five compounds: Benzo (a) pyrene, chrysene, phenanthrene, 1-methylnaphthalene, several other polycyclic aromatic compounds. frond briquettes biodiesel tested dual mode. A thermal efficiency 22.21% 2500 W electric load 72% displacement rate, respectively.

Effect of Moisture Content on Composition Profiles of Producer Gas in Downdraft Biomass Gasifier
Biomass, mainly in the form of wood, is the oldest form of energy used by humans. Gasification is a process of conversion of solid carbonaceous fuel into combustible gas by partial combustion. In the present study, a model developed by us in our earlier study is used for predicting the steady-state composition and rate of reaction profiles for the reduction zone of the downdraft biomass gasifie...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of Downdraft Biomass Gasifier
Kinetics-free equilibrium models can predict the exit gas composition, given the solid composition and the equilibrium temperature, but they cannot be used for reactor design Hence, there is a need to develop a combined transport and kinetic model which takes into account of the kinetics of homogeneous and heterogeneous chemical reactions, transport of volatiles produced, heat and mass transfer...
متن کاملExperimental Studies on Downdraft Biomass Gasifier
A process of conversion of solid carbonaceous fuel into combustible gas by partial combustion is known as gasification. The resulting gas, known as producer gas, is more versatile in its use than the original solid biomass. In the present study, a downdraft biomass gasifier is used to carry out the gasification experiments with the waste generated while making furniture in the carpentry section...
متن کاملThermoeconomic comparison between the performance of small-scale internal combustion engines and gas turbines integrated with a biomass gasifier
Recently, many countries have paid substantial attention to power generation from biomass gasification, particularly through small-scale plants. A number of power plant models have been suggested and analyzed; however, certainly, desirable configurations have not been identified yet. Moreover, their performances are ordinarily difficult to compare, especially owing to the fact that working ...
